Marian Mothers
Mutual encouragement, friendship, prayer and reflection for mothers and families.
Marian Mothers
Marian Mothers is a network of women who meet for mutual encouragement and support, affirmation in faith and motherhood, friendship, prayer and reflection on issues of faith and life for women and families.
Marian Mothers began in 1981 with Fr John Allardyce sm assisting a group of mothers who were looking for support and encouragement in their role as Christian mothers. It was in response to a need by mothers at home with young children to grow and develop their faith and to provide them with support, encouragement and friendship with other mothers.
Since then, the groups have spread the length and breadth of New Zealand supported by Marist Laity and have now become a focus group for mothers of all ages, including spiritual mothers. Our group has been going since 1998, with many of the original members still attending.
Meetings follow a format of listening to scripture and a reflection prepared by Marist Laity, followed by faith sharing and prayer. We also provide practical support for each other.
We meet on the first Thursday of each month at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 24 Clinton Street, Fitzroy, New Plymouth from 7:00pm to 8:30pm. It is advertised in the Church Newsletter, and we welcome any new mothers who wish to come along and join our meeting.
