Sacrament

Anointing of the Sick

Anointing of the sick is a sacrament of healing for those whose health is seriously impaired by sickness or old age. The person anointed with the Oil of the Sick is given a particular gift of the Holy Spirit to strengthen the sick person and give peace and courage to overcome the difficulties brought about by serious illness or frailty. This sacrament includes the forgiveness of sins.

An Anointing Mass is celebrated the first Saturday of the month at St Joseph’s Church at 10:30am.

Anointing Mass is also celebrated at Bell Block Catholic Centre, Our Lady Help of Christians and some rest homes during the year.

Please call the parish office to arrange a priest to visit someone who is unwell and wishes to be anointed. Ph: 757-3682.
